They opt to do laundry as a shared activity. However, Lin Yi Yang arrives without any laundry, subtly indicating to his visitors that he is indifferent to their opinions about his romantic endeavors.
Lin Yi Yang – Jiang Yang said he met you before.
Yin Guo – Yeah. When he took part in contests with my brother back in China, we met twice.
Lin Yi Yang – How has your brother been these years?
Yin Guo – Pretty good. My brother thought the club’s location wasn’t good. So he opened a new club. My uncle retired and invested in his club. My brother is in charge.
As they’re doing laundry, someone else enters the facility, loudly talking on their phone, which interrupts their conversation.
In response, Yin Guo and Lin Yi Yang resort to texting each other. By the time the noisy individual is about to finish their laundry or they think he is, both of them are too eager to speak directly. It’s at this moment that Yin Guo sends a message expressing her surrender.
Yin Guo – Can we talk now?
Lin Yi Yang – We’ve been playing dumb up until now. Maybe it’s better to keep doing it.
Yin Guo – Let’s go upstairs. We still have an hour to wait. There’s nothing to do here.
Lin Yi Yang – Others are upstairs. Not a good place.
Yin Guo – You’re not talking here, either. Isn’t it the same?
Lin Yi Yang – Can I ask you something?
Yin Guo – Go ahead. What is it? Why so secretive?
Lin Yi Yang – Do you have a boyfriend? Or do you know I want to pursue you?
Yin Guo is somewhat taken aback by his straightforwardness. Meanwhile, the man who had come in earlier to do laundry picks up on their odd behavior.
Lin Yi Yang observes her surprise and excuses himself, citing poor signal as the reason for his departure. Despite maintaining his composure, he’s curious about her response once he’s left.
The man then addresses her, saying, “Young lady, you both were so silent earlier. I assumed you weren’t Chinese. Are you two disagreeing? It was quite awkward for me. I thought about humming a tune to lighten the mood.”
While Yin Guo wonders if he was joking about his earlier statement, the man misreads the entire scenario and offers her advice on understanding each other better, even during arguments.
Outside the building, Lin Yi Yang waits for Yin Guo. Soon, one of the members of the Dongxin City group emerges, and Lin Yi Yang begins a conversation with him. It turns out Lin Yi Yang had called him outside because he was upset about the group making jokes about him. Lin Yi Yang acknowledges the guy’s sensibility. The conversation takes an emotional turn when the man expresses sadness about Lin Yi Yang drifting away.
Lin Yi Yang, unsure of what to say, mentions that their paths have diverged. In a moment of emotion, the man, named An’an, hugs Lin Yi Yang tightly, causing him embarrassment. Lin Yi Yang playfully scolds him. An’an, who holds the second spot in Dongxin City after Jiang Yang, advises Lin Yi Yang to take his responsibilities seriously.
An’an then inquires about Yin Guo, specifically whether her brother, Meng Xiaodong, would approve of their relationship. Lin Yi Yang clarifies that there is no romantic relationship between him and Yin Guo. However, An’an suggests he saw the way Yin Guo looks at Lin Yi Yang and believes it’s only a matter of time before something develops. Lin Yi Yang remarks that An’an has become more sensible now.
Yin Guo exits the laundry room to see the Dongxin City group departing. Upon arriving at the apartment, she discovers Lin Yi Yang getting dinner ready.
Yin Guo says, “When you left last week, I promised to treat you to a meal. Are you free? It’s okay if you’re not. I’m just asking. Next week is fine too. No worries.” Without waiting for his response, she quickly runs into her room, leaving him no chance to reply.
Lin Yi Yang approaches her door and, without insisting she open it, suggests from the other side, “Let’s schedule a date. 10:00 AM tomorrow. Does that work for you?”
She accepts the proposal.
At this moment, Wu Wei walks in and notices Lin Yi Yang smiling outside Yin Guo’s door. He playfully suggests Lin Yi Yang is savoring the moment by the door.
Meanwhile, Yin Guo decides to leave the apartment. She reaches out to Zheng Yi, asking, “When someone confessed their feelings to you, what would you say?”
Zheng Yi – Lin Yiyang?
Yin Guo – can you keep it down? You have the opposite personality to me. Maybe you can help me clear my head.
Zheng yi – Tell me about it. What did he say to you? How did he confess to you?
Yin Guo – “Do you know I want to pursue you?”
Zheng Yi – That doesn’t sound very serious.
Yin Guo – Really? Well, hypothetically, he was serious. What would you say?
Zheng Yi – Well, it depends on the situation. If I like him, I will say something like this.
“Really?” “How come I didn’t know?” Maybe you should make it more obvious. If I don’t like him, I will just ignore him. I’d let him off the hook and let it go. I won’t take it seriously. Tell me right now. How did he confess to you?
Yin Guo – Well, bad signal. I can’t hear you. I gotta go.
Yin Guo intentionally ends the call, deep in thought about her next steps, and leaves. The camera then shifts focus to Lin Yi Yang, who is found standing across the street. Eventually, Yin Guo returns to the apartment to find Lin Yi Yang busy on his laptop. Their farewell to each other is marked by awkwardness.
During the night, both find sleep elusive. Yin Guo ponders the significance of the candies she presents to him, while Lin Yi Yang spends the night restlessly, reflecting on the moment he expresses his desire to pursue a relationship with her.
The following morning, Lin Yi Yang rises early, anxious that oversleeping might cause him to miss his date. At the same time, Yin Guo awakens only to discover the bathroom in use. When Lin Yi Yang emerges, they exchange awkward greetings. After she exits the bathroom, Yin Guo is pleasantly surprised to see Lin Yi Yang preparing breakfast, impressed by his culinary abilities.
Ultimately, they share breakfast on a cruise. Yin Guo mentioned she ordered Lobster Pasta, following a recommendation from a friend.
Yin Guo – seems like we had two meals together today.
Lin Yi Yang -Yeah, right.
Yin Guo feels puzzled by his silence, leading her to believe that it appears as though she is the one pursuing him.
Lin Yi Yang then informs her that after lunch, he plans to head to the station.
Yin Guo – Are you leaving today?
Lin Yi Yang – Yes, I have an appointment with a professor tonight.
Yin Guo – Let’s finish this quickly and not talk.
Lin Yi Yang – It’s okay, no rush. There’s still enough time to eat. Take your time. No need to hurry.
She wonders why he does not say anything but does not mention anything outside.
Lin Yi Yang – What’s up?
Yin Guo – We’ve got a new coach. He’s from Dongxin City. His surname is Xu. He said he knows you.
Lin Yi Yang – Did he talk to you about me? So, what do you want to ask?
Yin Guo – Back then, why did you retire?
Lin Yi Yang – Didn’t he tell you why?
Yin Guo – No, we didn’t talk much. I’m just curious. When you left Dongxin City, why not switch to another club? I found out you had such good results. It’s a pity to give up.
Lin Yi Yang – At the time, I just suddenly wanted to study.
Yin Guo – I knew two friends when I was a child. Female athletes. They also decided to study and then retired. I think that’s good.
After leaving the restaurant, a couple approaches Lin Yi Yang, asking him to take a photo of them. Afterward, the couple, assuming Lin Yi Yang and Yin Guo are together, offers to take a picture of them as well. They agree to this.
Eventually, they arrive at a junction where their paths diverge. Yin Guo wishes him a safe journey. To her surprise, she discovers Lin Yi Yang has also boarded the same tram. He explains his presence by expressing concern that she might board the wrong train or alight at an incorrect station. Yin Guo assures him she is familiar with the tram system and suggests he disembark at the next stop to avoid missing his train.
Throughout the ride, they remain silent until Lin Yi Yang’s station is announced. Yin Guo expresses regret that the moment has arrived too soon. As Lin Yi Yang prepares to exit, she holds onto his bag’s handle, stopping him momentarily to request he inform her of his arrival, smiling as she says it.
While on the tram, Yin Guo receives a call from her brother, Meng Xiaodong. Initially, she struggles to hear him due to the poor network connection inside the tram. After calling him back, Meng Xiaodong scolds her for missing two days of training and warns her that he’ll visit her if he hears any more excuses. Although she advises against it, she can’t help but wonder post-call if he’s considering visiting her.
Upon reaching her apartment, Yin Guo freshens up. Shortly after, her phone alerts her to a message from Lin Yi Yang, confirming his safe arrival. In their conversation, she mentions not having a boyfriend. Lin Yi Yang responds, indicating his awareness, reasoning that if she had a boyfriend, she wouldn’t have gone out with him that morning. Meanwhile, Wu Wei enters the apartment to find her deeply engaged in her messaging, curious about what’s making her so visibly happy.
Wu Wei shares with Lin Yi Yang that he’s put away his razor to prevent it from getting blunt. As a sort of playful exchange or curiosity, he inquires if Lin Yi Yang and Yin Guo shared a kiss.
Later, Lin Yi Yang encounters one of his friends, who expresses happiness about Lin Yi Yang’s decision to stay longer. However, Lin Yi Yang clarified that he hasn’t made a final decision yet. Although initially inclined to extend his stay for a few more years, he now considers altering his plans. When his friend wonders if this reconsideration is due to his parents, Lin Yi Yang doesn’t respond, leaving an implicit suggestion that Yin Guo’s influence in his life might be prompting this potential change in his plans.
