in hopes of getting discovered as a singer , Seo Mok-Ha recruits Jang Ki-Ho to film a video. As terror strikes , they flee for a new life.
Two story parallelly runs here. On one side , it is in Chunsam Island and another side , it is in Seoul.
In Seoul , There is a Radio Show which is supposed to happen. A diva , A Star , Ran-Joo is on her way there. The Host is nervous whether Ran Joo will reach on time.
On The other hand , in Chunsam Island , there is a teenage girl , Seo Mok-Ha. She is in a life and death situation. Her dream is to become an idol , a music idol.
And this is her time to shine. Her mobile phone is not working and she is hell bent to get her hands on a phone. The biggest catch is there is only one person whose phone they can use and he is Jung Ki-ho. But the catch is , he charges money for everything.
Anyways , after a lot of struggle and emotional crying , he melts and gives her his phone only to find out that she is making a call to a radio station to talk to her idol.
Seo Mok-Ha gets the chance to connect with her Idol , Ran-joo. The Ran-Joo. While being overwhelmed with the reality of the situation , she tries to keep her level of hyperventilation low. However , when all those crazy feeling of talking to the Idol subsides , and she is ready to sing the song , Jung Ki-Ho takes his phone back and replaces the sim. Her heart is broken. He thought it was one of her plots to fulfill some stupid childish dream without paying for it.
Seo Mok-Ha is frustrated at Jung Ki-Ho. She dreamt of going to Seoul and wanted to chase her dream of becoming a singing Idol. now the agency of Ran-Joo has decided to organise a fan singing contest. To participate in that , they need good camera and a decent editor. Turns Out , Jang Ki-Ho is a good editor and as well as he has camera too. She offers him 1000 won to help her in return.
Meanwhile , Jung Ki-ho is shovelling at a construction place. Everyone scholds him for not shovelling so hard at such an young age. Turns out , he was doing it because he is saving money to gift something precious to his father.
Turns out that Construction Worker is a friend of his father. He naturally blabbers everything to him while complaining how awesome his son is. After reaching home , his starts thrashing his son berating him for hoarding money. He is all bruised. Apparently his wife/ Jung Ki-ho’s mother left them.
His father doubts that he is doing that because he wants to escape to his mother. It was a very heart breaking scene. The way his father punches and thrashes him , it was really painful to watch.
Next Morning , they start shooting for the video. Jung Ki-ho asks her what she would do if she gets selected. She has this dreamy eyes where she wants to become a star like Ran-Joo. She says its a secret. Jung Ki-Ho edits the video and the remembers the conversation he had with Seo Mok-Ha.
Seo Mok-Ha – how was my singing?
Jung Ki-Ho – well , it was unexpected.
Seo Mok-Ha – is that a compliment or what?
Jung Ki-Ho – something like that. In my eyes , you seemed to lack a lot.
Seo Mok-Ha – Lack? What did I lack?
Jung Ki-Ho – you lacked maturity , manner and thought.
Seo Mok-Ha – what?
Jung Ki-Ho – you also lacked worries, gloominess , concerns or reasons to cry. So whenever I looked at you….I was annoyed.
Meanwhile , Seo Mok-Ha did not have the ideal life Jung Ki-ho imagined.
Her father is also drunkard and abusive. She also comes from a broken home like Jung Ki-ho. He thrashes her guitar and smashes her phone assuming she was going to call the police. Her dreams are all shattered.
Next morning , Jung Ki-ho reaches school with the pen drive. Seo Mok-Has has not reached school. He asks her friend only to find out that she has taken a sick leave. He decides to meet Seo Mok-Ha at her home.
Meanwhile , Seo Mok-Ha calls up police. Jung Ki-ho reaches her home only to find out Police Officers inside her house and neighbours are looking at the ongoing drama. He notices the bruises on her hand. She covers it while being ashamed of it. Turns out , One of the policemen is also Jung Ki-Ho’s father. Both the Officers tries to call it a truce between father and daughter. Her father says that he might have been drunk to be a bit violent but she is terrified.
At night , both Jung Ki-Ho & Seo Mok-Ha sit in front of TV.
he hands her the video tape but she is upset and kind of lifeless. That bubbly , chirpy girl is nowhere to be found. She tells him that she will not apply for it anymore. Together , they watch Ran-Joo on Tv. She tells her that Ran-Joo was also from this island and she did plastic surgery and changed her dialect to remove any trace of her accent.
Ki-ho takes the file back and at night , he sits in front of his computer.
He applies on behalf of her putting his phone number. He does not want her father to know about this.
Meanwhile , in Seoul, Ran-Joo sees Seo Mok-Ha’s performance and she is absolutely touched. Ran-joo is trying to leave her agency. Her Manager gives her a proposal that he can manage her with his own Talent Management Agency. Ran-Joo tells him that through the videos of fan contest , if he finds out the video that she likes , then they both can work together. Turns out , her manager did find out about the performance which Ran-joo loved the most. It was Seo Mok-Ha’s performance.
Jung Ki-ho gets a call from Sugar Agency. He is shocked and rushes throught the students to find her.
He hands her the phone over so that agency can talk to her. Seo Mok-Ha declines the offer thinking that it will be impossible to go to Seoul.she tries to be nonchalant about it but ultimately breaks down in Class.
He understands her reasons and feels upset for her.
Jung Ki-ho tells her that she will die if she is left as it is just like the fish in aquarium. He tells her that there is absolutely no point of going to Police station. Rather , she should come to him whenever her father gets drunk and gets violent with her. She should come to the green window of her room and knock it twice. He will take her to Ran-joo in Seoul.
Ki-ho calls up the agency and tells them that they would be there. He mentions that date and time in Seoul.
That night , she knocks on his window. She was bare footed. He gives her his shoes. He even brought a raincoat too. He decides to help her elave this hellhole.
In Seoul , Ran-joo eventually signs her manager.
Her father wakes up , next morning , only to find her gone. They decide to board the boat. Unfortunately , Fishermen notices them and rings up her father. Her father reaches the dock. Ki-Ho notices her father. He maker her promise him that she will try to become the most famous Idol.
He goes to stop her father while taking a beating for her. “I won’t let you take another step Sir.” he says.While he tries to hold her father off , she goes through his items. She finds different items, including chocolate, a diary and photos of his abuse in the bag.
Meanwhile Mok-Ha’s father manages to board the boat. He tries to catch Seo Mok-Ha, tries to coax her into talking and resolving it together. But Mok-Ha does not trust his words. She rides the railing and jumps into the sea. Her father also follows.
The Screen Blackens.
Jung Ki-ho wakes up in a Hospital. He learns that everyone is trying to find Mok-Ha but no avails.
Therefore , Since Mok-Ha did not reach Seoul , Ran-Joo and her manager shows up at the pre decided spot but find noone. Ki-ho is upset and breaking down imagining Mok-ha is dead. Ki-ho heads to their shop and decides to let the fish go into the water symbolically setting the fish free just like he wanted to set Mok-Ha free.
However , the truth is Mok-Ha is alive but she is in a deserted island.
She has made herself a new hut and have plenty of food too.
One day she notices an abandoned dead body. It seems its her father. She cries looking at it and the background voice suggests that she wished for that to happen actually. Anyways , she grows up in this deserted island while spending the formation years here. Meanwhile , Jung Ki-ho goes to train station every year same day thinking that he will meet him since he refuses to believe that she is dead.
Seo Mok-ha grows up to Beautiful Park Eun-bin.
One fine morning , a drone stops in front of her. She looks at it bewildered and start chasing it.
